A Hiking Birdwatcher's cruise Liz Ryan and the "Captn" were high school classmates 46 years ago and hadn't seen each other in all that time. It took Liz a couple of years to put together the right people for a cruise on Skookumchuck and Kathy Brooks, Nancy Thomas and Gabrielle Stocker ended up being the lucky ones. All were hikers and birders. Together, Liz and "Captn" convinced another classmate, Dave McKay, to come along with all the girls. Dave and Liz were the 6th and 7th persons from Hickory High School in Western Pennsylvania that have made it on board Skookumchuck. |

There were hikes on the beaches. |
| And hikes through the rainforest. |

There was time for naps. |
| Sometimes in precarious places! |
|
 |
And time for gathering beach greens. |
| Specifically, beach asparagus. |
 |
 |
And the scenery wasn't too bad either! |

A nice way to wind down a day of hiking. After showers and good meal, a pleasant evening for conversations and relaxing on deck. |

We weren't always alone but it was always peaceful. |

And before we knew it, time to say goodbye. |
