  Newlyweds Paradise - Early June

Newly weds Pat Gill and Fred Schwelhofer decided to have at least part of their honeymoon in Alaska. While Pat had been here before, she wanted to make sure that husband Fred got to see as many of the wonders of this awesome place as he could. They made it an incredible adventure when they started out in early June in Southeast Alaska with a ten day cruise aboard Skookumchuck and then continued their trip afterwards to end up above the Arctic Circle at Point Barrow. Pat and Fred were joined by best friends (and part of their wedding party) Joan and Phil Gabrielson for the Southeast portion of their celebration.

Some Dall's Porpoise pay us an early morning visit.  Very fast swimmers.  Usually a splash is all we ever get on film. Dall porpoise

Waterfall

Now that's a waterfall! Can you pick out our honeymoon party right at the base.  The place was filled with salmon but none make it up these falls.

Or these either!  Waterfalls don't have to be big to be spectacular.  Just look at that wild country!

Bucket o-shrimp

Literally, a bucket-O-shrimp!

Phil, the fisherman.  Nice going Phil!

What's this?  Joan caught one too!  He's not going to bite you Joan. Joan

Pat The Penn State grad wasn't going to be left out.  Good going Pat!

That's OK Fred.  Not everyone likes salmon anyway! Fred

Taking a hike

The girls take a hike out to Sealion Cove while the guys go fishing--again!

Lunch break on a log.  Wonder how they chose that one? Lunch break

Crab butchering The Capt'n with a crab butchering demonstration.  You have to have your hat cocked to the side to do it right.

Seems there were two Penn State graduates on board. Penn State Grads

Phil

Phil's brown bear.  We never got very close to this guy but he was an awesome sight just the same.

Farewell And before you know it, the cruise came to an end.  A grand start to anyone's marriage!
